How to play 13-card Rummy
- Each player gets 13 cards from two decks with two printed jokers.
- A card is cut under the deck: every card of its rank is a joker for this deal.
- On your turn take the open card or draw from the deck, then discard one card.
- Group your cards into sequences (3 or more in a row, one suit) and sets (3 or 4 of a rank, different suits).
- You need at least two sequences, and one must be pure (no joker).
- When every card is grouped, discard your last card with Declare to win the deal.
Rummy rules at a glance
- Players: 2, 3 or 4.
- Card points: Ace, King, Queen and Jack 10; number cards their value; jokers 0.
- Losers score their unmatched cards, 80 at most; without two sequences (one pure) every card counts.
- Drop before your first draw for 20 points, or later for 40.
- Quick: 1 deal (Points Rummy). Full: 3 deals; the lowest total wins.
- A joker on the open pile can't be picked up.

Tips to win at Rummy
- Make your pure sequence first: without it, every card counts against you.
- Throw high cards (A, K, Q, J) early if they don't fit; they cost 10 points each.
- Watch what others pick from the open pile, and avoid throwing what they need.
- Keep jokers: they are worth 0 and can finish almost any group.
- A bad start? Dropping early only costs 20.
