Play Jackaroo online with friends, free
Jackaroo is the Gulf's favourite team race, played on wooden boards from Kuwait and Riyadh to Doha and Dubai. Four players in two teams race their marbles round the board and into their safe lane, but there are no dice: the cards in your hand decide every move. Bring marbles out, jump back, split a move between two marbles, swap places with a rival and send their marbles home.

How to play Jackaroo
- Four players in two teams, with your partner sitting opposite you. Each player has marbles waiting at home: 4 each in a Full game, 2 each in a Quick game.
- Cards come from one 52-card deck, dealt four to each player. On your turn you play exactly one card and move by its power.
- An Ace or a King brings a marble out onto your start square. A marble can't come out while one of your own marbles is already sitting there.
- Number cards move a marble forward by their value; the Queen moves 12. The Ace can also move 1 or 11.
- The 4 moves a marble 4 squares back. A marble just out can go back 4, then slip into its safe lane with the next card.
- The 7 moves 7, all on one marble or split between two of your marbles, like 3 and 4.
- The Jack swaps one of your marbles on the track with an opponent's marble. Nobody is sent home by a swap.
- Land on any marble and it goes back home. Your team wins when all its marbles are safe in the lanes.
Jackaroo rules at a glance
- No passing: if you have a card that can move, you must play it. If none of your cards can move, you burn one: it is discarded with no effect.
- A marble sitting on its own start square blocks the way: nobody can pass it or land on it.
- Two marbles of the same colour side by side make a block that other marbles can't pass.
- Into the safe lane by exact count only: a card that would carry a marble past the end of its lane can't be used on it. Marbles in the lane are safe from everyone.
- Once all your marbles are safe, your cards move your partner's marbles instead, so you keep helping your team.
- Jackaroo Complex adds three powers: the King can also move 13 and break through blocks, the 5 can move any marble on the track, even a rival's, and the 10 can also make the next player burn a card.

Tips to win at Jackaroo
- Keep an Ace or a King while marbles are still at home: without one, they can't come out.
- Save a 4 for a marble on its start square: going back 4 puts it right in front of its safe lane.
- Hold a 7 when two marbles are near the lane: the split can bring both home in one turn.
- Keep the Jack for a rival marble close to its lane, and swap it far back with one of yours.
- Don't park a marble 5, 7, 8 or 9 squares in front of a rival: those are the cards they are most likely to hold.
- Never land on your partner's marble: it goes home just like a rival's.
