Play Ronda online with friends, free
Ronda is Morocco's favourite card game, played with the 40-card Spanish deck of coins, cups, swords and batons. Play a card that matches one on the table and you take it, plus the run of cards above it. Play the same number as the card just played and you score an echo, and taking the last cards on the table is worth a point.

On Rayoosh, Ronda is free, with no money and no betting. Play one on one or 2 vs 2, let computer players fill the empty seats, and earn Pearls by finishing place; Pearls can never be bought or cashed out. Rayan's short How to play lesson introduces the Spanish cards, runs and echoes, and a private table brings your friends in with one link. Our Spanish deck is drawn by us, and each suit has its own colour and shape.
How to play Ronda
- The Spanish deck has 40 cards in four suits: coins, cups, swords and batons. Each suit runs 1 to 7, then 10, 11 and 12. There are no 8s or 9s, so the 7 and the 10 are neighbours.
- Each player gets 3 cards, then 4 cards are laid face up on the table, all with different numbers.
- When every hand is empty, 3 more are dealt to each player, until the deck runs out. No new cards go on the table.
- The player after the dealer starts. Each turn you play exactly one card; there is no passing.
- If a table card has the same number as yours, you take it, then keep taking upward while the next number is on the table: a 6 on 1, 6, 7 and 10 takes the 6, 7 and 10. Lower numbers stay.
- A matching card always captures. With no match, your card stays on the table.
- Echo: play the same number as the card just played and you score, whether you take cards or not: the 2nd in a row +1, the 3rd +5, the 4th +10.
- Taking the last cards on the table scores +1. When the last card of the round is played, anything left goes to whoever made the last capture.
Ronda scoring at a glance
- Every captured card is 1 point, 40 in all.
- Echoes: +1, +5 and +10 for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th card of the same number in a row.
- Clear table: +1 for each capture that empties the table. The end-of-round sweep never counts.
- Bottom card: the last card of the deck goes to the dealer face up. A 12 gives the dealer's side +5; a 1 gives the other side +5.
- With calls: after each deal, a pair in hand is a Ronda (+1) and three of a kind a Tringa (+5). If both sides call, the best call wins (a Tringa beats a Ronda, then the higher number) and scores every call made.
- Quick: one round, and the side with more points wins; a tie plays one more round. Full: each round the side with more points adds the difference, and the first to 41 wins.

Tips to win at Ronda
- Count each number: there are four of each, and knowing how many are left tells you who can match or echo.
- Before you lay a card, check the run you might give away: a 6 laid next to a 7 and a 10 hands the next player three cards.
- A number whose other copies are all gone is safe to lay: nobody can match it or echo it.
- Take care with the third card of a number: if the fourth is still out, the next player can echo it for +10.
- Clearing the table is worth +1, so watch for a small table you can empty.
- In the last deal, plan to make the last capture: it brings every card left on the table.

Questions and answers
Is Ronda on Rayoosh free? Is there real money?
It is completely free, with no real money and no betting. You earn Pearls by finishing place, and Pearls can never be bought or cashed out.
What cards does Ronda use?
The 40-card Spanish deck: coins, cups, swords and batons, each running 1 to 7, then 10, 11 and 12. On Rayoosh the deck is our own design, and each suit has its own colour and shape.
What is an echo in Ronda?
Playing the same number as the card just played. The 2nd in a row scores +1, the 3rd +5 and the 4th +10, whether or not the card takes anything.
What are Ronda and Tringa?
Calls for a pair (Ronda, +1) or three of a kind (Tringa, +5) in your hand. In the With calls mode they are made for you after each deal. If both sides call, the side with the best call takes all the call points.
What is the bottom card?
The last card of the deck, dealt face up to the dealer. A 12 gives the dealer's side +5, a 1 gives the other side +5, and any other card scores nothing.
How do you win a Full game of Ronda?
After each round, the side with more points adds the difference to its score: 27 to 18 adds 9. Equal rounds score nothing, and the first side to 41 wins.
