How to play Estimation

1. Four players, each for themselves. Everyone gets 13 cards from a 52-card deck, aces high. The deal moves one seat every round.
2. Dash Call: starting after the dealer, each player may say Dash Call, a promise to take no tricks at all, or No. At most two players per round can be on zero.
3. Auction: the other players bid a number of tricks from 4 to 13 with a suit or Sans (no trump). Suits rank Sans, ♠, ♥, ♦, ♣. Each bid must be a higher number, or the same number in a higher suit. A pass takes you out.
4. The auction winner is the Caller: their number is their call and their suit is trump. If nobody bids, the cards are dealt again.
5. Calls: going round after the Caller, each other player calls from 0 up to the Caller's number. A call of 0 is a Dash; matching the Caller's number is a With.
6. The last player to call may not make the total of all calls 13, so the round is either Over or Under.
7. The Caller leads the first trick. Follow suit if you can; if not, play any card. The highest trump wins, or else the highest card of the suit led.
8. After 13 tricks, every player who took exactly their call scores, and everyone else loses points.

Estimation scoring at a glance

• Exact call: 10 points plus the tricks you took (call 3, take 3: 13). A Dash that works scores 10.
• Missed call: minus the difference (call 3, take 5: minus 2).
• Caller or With: plus 10 more when made, minus 10 more when missed.
• The only player to make it: plus 10. The only player to miss: minus 10.
• Risk: the last caller wins or loses 10, 20 or 30 more for a Risk, Double Risk or Triple Risk, set by how far the total is from 13 (2–3 away, 4–5, or 6 or more).
• Dash Call: a fixed 25 points when the round is Over, or 33 when it is Under. You win them with no tricks and lose them if you take any.
• Sa'aydeh: if all four players miss, nobody scores and the next round counts double; after two in a row, it counts four times.

Estimation in Rayoosh

• Mode: Classic. Normal rounds where the auction sets trump, then five colour rounds with a fixed trump: ♣, ♦, ♥, ♠, then Sans.
• Super Call: in a colour round, a bid of 8 or more may name a different trump.
• Quick: 10 rounds (5 normal and 5 colour), about 20 minutes.
• Full: 18 rounds (13 normal and 5 colour), about 38 minutes.
• Players: 4. Computer players can take any empty seat. Equal totals share a place.
• Pearls by finishing place: 45, 20, 8 and 3 in Quick; 80, 35, 14 and 5 in Full. They are never bought or cashed out.
• Works on phones, tablets, computers and TVs with a remote, in Arabic, English and Hindi.

Tips to win at Estimation

• Call what your hand can really take: aces, protected kings and long trumps. A low call you make scores more than a high call you miss.
• Once you reach your call, duck: play the highest card that won't win the trick, and get rid of high cards that could win one later.
• Still short? Win tricks with the cheapest card that does the job, and keep your sure winners for later.
• Watch Over and Under. Over means there aren't enough tricks for everyone, so players will fight for them; Under means spare tricks that everyone will try to dodge.
• Dash Call only with a really weak hand: no aces, no short kings and no long suit. The reward is big, but a single trick costs you.
• As last caller, a bigger gap from 13 brings a Risk: more to win and more to lose. Take it only when your hand is clear.
