400, “arba'meyye” in Lebanon, is the partnership card game of cafés and family evenings across the Levant. It looks like Tarneeb, but nobody wins an auction: each of the four players bids the tricks they will take themselves, hearts are always trump, and every player keeps their own score. You win as a team, but only when both partners pull their weight.

On Rayoosh, 400 is free and played for points only: there is no money and no stakes of any kind. Pearls are earned by playing and paid by finishing place, and they can never be bought or cashed out. Rayan's short How to play lesson explains bidding and scoring, computer players fill any empty seat, and a private table brings your partner and your rivals together in seconds.
How to play 400
- Four players in two teams, with your partner opposite you. Everyone gets 13 cards from a 52-card deck, aces high.
- Hearts are always trump, so nobody chooses a trump suit.
- Bidding starts with the player after the dealer. Each player bids once: the number of tricks they will take themselves, from their minimum up to 13. Nobody can pass.
- The four bids must add up to the table minimum (11 at the start). If they fall short, the cards are thrown in and the next dealer deals again.
- The first bidder leads the first trick. Follow the led suit if you can; if you can't, play any card. Trumping with a heart is allowed, never forced.
- The highest heart wins the trick, or else the highest card of the led suit. The winner leads the next trick.
- After 13 tricks each player is scored on their own bid: a made bid adds its value, a missed bid takes the same value away. Extra tricks are worth nothing.
- A team wins when one partner reaches 41 or more and the other partner is above 0.
400 bids and points at a glance
- Your lowest bid depends on your own score: below 30, bid at least 2; 30–39, at least 3; 40–49, at least 4; 50 and over, at least 5.
- The table minimum depends on the highest score at the table: below 30, the four bids must total at least 11; 30–39, 12; 40–49, 13; 50 and over, 14.
- Values while your score is below 30: bids of 2, 3 and 4 are worth 2, 3 and 4; 5 is worth 10, 6 is 12, 7 is 14, 8 is 16, 9 is 27, and 10 to 13 are worth 40.
- Values once your score is 30 or more: bids of 2 to 6 are worth their own number; 7 is 14, 8 is 16, 9 is 27, and 10 to 13 are worth 40.
- The value comes from your score before the deal. A missed bid costs exactly what it would have paid: a missed 5 below 30 costs 10.
- If both teams qualify on the same deal, the higher team total wins; equal totals play on.

Tips to win at 400
- Bid what your hand can make. High hearts with length, plus aces in the other suits, are where your tricks come from.
- Stretch to 5 only when your hand supports it: below 30 a made 5 pays 10, but a missed one costs 10.
- Once your own bid is made, help your partner make theirs: lead a suit they are out of so they can trump, or lead low where they may hold the winner.
- When your partner is winning a trick and still needs it, play low and let them have it.
- Trump with the lowest heart that will hold, and keep your high hearts for the tricks that matter.
- Never leave your partner at 0 or below: reaching 41 only wins when both of you are above 0.

Questions and answers
Is 400 on Rayoosh free? Is there real money?
It is completely free, and there is no money and no stakes at all. Points exist only inside the game. Pearls are earned by playing and can never be bought or cashed out.
Which suit is trump in 400?
In Classic 400, hearts, always. Nobody chooses trump. When you can't follow suit you don't have to trump, but only a heart can beat the led suit. In Syrian 41, trump comes from the dealer’s shown card instead.
What is the lowest bid in 400?
It depends on your own score before the deal: 2 below 30, 3 from 30, 4 from 40 and 5 from 50. In Syrian 41 the lowest bid is always 2.
What happens if the bids add up to less than 11?
The cards are thrown in and the next dealer deals again. In Classic the minimum rises with the highest score at the table: 12 from 30, 13 from 40 and 14 from 50. In Syrian 41 it always stays at 11.
How do you win at 400?
One partner reaches 41 or more while the other is above 0. If you pass 41 while your partner is at 0 or below, play goes on until they climb above 0 or the other team wins.
Why is a bid of 5 worth 10 points?
While your score is below 30, bids of 5 and 6 pay double: 5 is worth 10 and 6 is worth 12. From 30 they are worth only 5 and 6, while 7 and up keep their big values (14, 16, 27 and 40). This is Classic only: in Syrian 41 a bid of 5 is worth 5.
What is Syrian Tarneeb 41?
A mode of 400 with three changes. The dealer’s last card is shown to everyone, and trump is the other suit of the same colour: ♣ shown makes ♠ trump, ♠ makes ♣, ♦ makes ♥ and ♥ makes ♦. That card stays in the dealer’s hand and is played normally. The lowest bid is always 2 and the four bids must always total 11. A made bid adds the bid, a missed bid takes it away, and nobody else gains. You still win with 41 or more and your partner above 0, in about 35 minutes.
